John Coppin (1904-1986) American, Oil on Canvas. Signed, dated, and titled lower right. A portrait depicting members of Coppin family. John Coppin was born in Mitchell, Ontario. Settling in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, he became a prominent portrait painter, muralist, and illustrator. Coppin was educated at Stratford Collegiate Institute and the John Wicker School of Art in Detroit, and he also did study tours in Europe. He was a member of the American Federation of Artists and a fellow of International Institute of Arts and Letters. Provenance: Piece was descended through the artist by the family to the niece.
