American Victorian walnut bedroom set, comprising: (1) dresser with tilting mirror, having foliate carved upper frieze, beveled mirror plate, flanked by fluted side columns, case fitted with two small drawers, two long drawers, patinated pulls and matched escutcheon, marked John Sparks, Georgetown, TX (see provenance below) to back, all on casters, marble top intact with fracture, approx 77″h, 48″w, 23.5″d, (2) wash stand, with towel rail over small demilune shelves, single frieze drawer, lower tier enclosed by bentwood railing, on block supports, approx 46″h, 42″w, 21.5″d, (3) bed, exterior: approx 70.5″h, 81.75″l, 60.5″w, interior: approx 78″l, 56.25″w **Provenance: from the estate of John Sparks – former Texas Ranger/ cattleman, went on to become tenth governor of Nevada, nicknamed “Honest John”**
Condition: “Wear and imperfections from age, use and movement. Crack to marble as pictured. Previously owned by a Texas Ranger!!! Don’t very often get provenance like that.”
